Anatomy of a Roof

Roof Shingles - Anatomy of a roof

Shingles

Our ThunderGuard shingle undergoes a vulcanized rubber process that provides better granule retention. This protects shingles from wear and tear, and allows us to give you a better warranty and longer lasting roof.
Roof Fasteners - Anatomy of a roof

Fasteners

The average roof has over ten thousand nails in it. It only takes one to ruin it. Nail pops, major leaks, shingles missing? This happens over time because products expand and contract at different rates due to the material, temperature, and pressure. Over time this creates space around the nail, causing water to go down the shaft of the nail into your home. This happens when a smooth shank fastener is used, but we do things differently. We use a trident 3 fastener with barbed shank tech and three times the holding power of smooth shank nail.
Roof-Underlayment_New

Underlayment

The layers between shingles and decking used so shingles don’t stick directly to a wood deck, and is the last layer of defense in case of blow off. We use ice and water shield on all of our roof systems, making sure you’re up to code. Thun-derShield is a PVC and fiberglass woven material - better strength and sealing capabilities, creates a full shield around the nail head so water can’t get down the shaft of the nail.
Ice-Guard-New

Ice Guard

This waterproof asphalt membrane bonds to the roof deck to protect vulnerable areas on a roof from ice and water damage. It is especially important in areas like Central Ohio where severe storms are common and the cold weather can cause ice to form on roofs.
Roof Chimney Cap - Anatomy of a roof

Chimney cap

If you have a chimney, you need a chimney cap. This prevents animals from entering your home through the chimney, serves as a cover for rain, and stops fireplace sparks and embers that travel up the chimney from landing on your roof and setting it on fire. It also prevents debris such as leaves and branches from getting into your chimney.
Roof Drip Edge - Anatomy of a roof

Drip edge

Drip edges are L-shaped metal sheets installed at the edge of the roof to direct water away from the fascia and into the gutter. Without a drip edge, water may end up beneath the shingles, causing damage to various parts of the home.
Roof Intake Ventilation - Anatomy of a roof

Intake Ventilation

In the summer, proper ventilation and insulation keeps heat out of your house. In the winter, it keeps moisture away. We recommend an R38 insulation, and a good ventilation system that includes a ridge vent and intake vents on the eaves. The energy savings that good insulation provides makes it the best return on investment product you can buy in the home improvement industry. It only takes five to seven years to pay for itself in energy savings.
Roof Ridge Vent - Anatomy of a roof

Ridge vent

A ridge vent runs along the apex of a slope roof’s peak, and is an important part of an efficient home roofing system. Ridge vents allow warm and damp air to leave your home from the attic, increasing energy efficiency and prolonging the life of your roof.
Roof Flashing - Anatomy of a roof

Flashing

A ridge vent runs along the apex of a slope roof’s peak, and is an important part of an efficient home roofing system. Ridge vents allow warm and damp air to leave your home from the attic, increasing energy efficiency and prolonging the life of your roof.
Roof Plumbing Boot - Anatomy of a roof

Plumbing boots

This is a piece of preformed flashing made to surround and waterproof pipe penetrations such as plumbing vent pipes and electrical service mast pipes. Like flashing, it is composed of a thin metal material and is made to seal joints, preventing leaking where the pipe meets the roof.
Roof Skylight - Anatomy of a roof

Skylight

Often viewed as a purely cosmetic addition to your home exterior, skylights also add value to the resale value of your home and increase energy efficiency. Not to mention the fact that it improves mood, and nothing looks as good as being under natural lighting.
Roof Vent - Anatomy of a roof

Roof vent

Roof vents allow for proper attic ventilation, preventing early aging of your roof through condensation. Ventilation also helps moderate temperature throughout the home, promoting energy efficiency. The right number of intake and exhaust vents varies roof to roof, and our project consultants are trained to take this into account during the estimation process.
Roof Sealant - Anatomy of a roof

Sealant

Your roof is only as strong as the weakest link. Most companies use an asphalt-based sealant, an organic substance that becomes ineffective as the sun dries out. If we’re putting a warranty on this through Able, we don’t want to use subpar materials. We use NP1, a synthetic product that won’t break down when the sun is out. It’s environmentally safe and does not emit any gases or fumes.

BBB Review 1
Able Roof came to our house quickly because we thought we had a roof leak. Turns out it was an exhaust fan leak. They gave us a quote which was very reasonable. They showed up when they said they would, and told us that we wouldn't have to be home. We happened to be home, and the gentleman we met was very nice. I thought the work they did was very good for the job that was needed. Thank you!!!

Had whole house siding done. Everyone I encountered from Able were courteous, knowledgeable and professional. They kept in contact with me throughout the entire process. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend this company.

We were highly satisfied with Able, starting with our salesman Zach. He was very patient and very helpful during our meeting. On day one the install team showed up early and they were done by the time I got home from work. A couple weeks after the install we did have a concern with a dripping sound, called our project manager and someone came right out and corrected the problem. We would highly recommend them.
