Rebuilding Together is a remarkable group using their national reach to work towards providing a safe and healthy home for every person. Their year-long efforts of organizing, training and meticulous planning all culminate into their signature annual event: Rebuilding a Healthy Neighborhood. During this one day in May, volunteers, corporate sponsors and local organizations work to revitalize homes and in turn, entire communities. This year in our very own Whitehall, Ohio, Rebuilding Together teamed up with Able Roof to provide resident Mrs. Young with some much needed home repairs.
Mrs. Young has called Whitehall, OH home since 1965. This house has seen her raise a family– three daughters and a stepson. It has seen her through work at National Firehouse Inc and into her retirement. After 50 years, some serious renovation was needed to get this house feeling like a home again. When asked about the struggles of homeownership, Mrs. Young simply said, “Nobody’s been here to work on it, all my brothers are gone and I can’t do it.” This is where Able came in.
This past Saturday, Able Roof sent a group of employees (roofers and non-roofers) to Whitehall. They installed a new roof, awnings for the front of the house, fence gates, and screen doors. They didn’t stop there; the team made sure Mrs. Young’s home got everything it needed. The kitchen and bathroom were both renovated. They put a fresh coat of paint on the home’s exterior. By the end of the month Able will have finished out the job with installation of both new windows and new carpet.
There is nothing more important to Able Roof than quality work and supporting our community. The Rebuilding Healthy Neighborhoods event provided the perfect opportunity for both. Able Roof is proud to have worked with Rebuilding Together and to have lent a hand to such a wonderful member of the community, Mrs. Young.
