Highlights of the Strawberry Festival
Able Roof is always thrilled to take part in festivals, and the Newark Strawberry festival is no exception. We love to support our Newark community and Kiwanis in their goal of, “improving the world, one child and one community at a time.” Every year the festival goes all out with pageants, rides, games, food, music, and the Newark Kiwanis Club’s famous strawberry shortcake. This past Friday, June 3rd, marked the beginning of this highly anticipated festival. There was live music by Ohio Country Jam, Blue Steel, and Night Train Band. Then there was the Queen’s pageant where many lovely young women competed for the coveted title of Queen. We send our Congratulations to this year’s strawberry queen! On Saturday and Sunday the fun continued with a variety of bands, craft vendors, strawberry themed food, and carnival rides. I sincerely hope you made it out this year, but if you missed it check out these upcoming festivals listed below.
Banana Split Festival
This June 10th-11th marks the 22nd annual Banana Split Festival in Wilmington Ohio. It all began with a contest, set up by Ernest Hazard in 1907, to see which of his employees could come up with the most creative dish, and thus the banana split was invented. Come support Wilmington and their claim to being the inventors of the banana split. If you’re not a fan of banana splits join Wilmington in some of their other fun festivities. This includes a 5k run, baseball tournament, a car show, great food, live music, and a ton of exciting games. Come out and try a banana split in the town where it all began.
Columbus Art Festival
If the above festival didn’t have you hooked come out to one of the most highly acclaimed art festivals in the nation. The Columbus Arts Festival will be held along the Scioto Mile in downtown Columbus from June 10th to June 12th. There you will find over 300 nationally acclaimed artists from all over the world. There will be fair food along with gourmet food from local restaurants. There is a 5k run, film and video tent, live painting, local and student exhibitions, hands on activities and more. So if you like art, festivals, food, or music this is the place to be.
