FAQ
Siding FAQ
-
What type of siding does ABLE install?
- ABLE installs a variety of types of
siding ranging from vinyl, composite,
cement, to solid core. Each siding style
has its own characteristics and our
design pro can show you the differences
to help you decide what is best for you.
- What exactly is vinyl siding?
- Vinyl siding is the the most popular
siding material in the United States and
is quickly gaining momentum around the
world. In the early years, vinyl siding
was referred to as plastic, but with
advances in formulas, coloring, and
extrusion – vinyl siding simulates
painted wood siding without the fear of
rot or the need for paint. ABLE is a
factory certified vinyl siding
installer.
- What is solid core siding?
- Solid core siding is similar to
vinyl siding, but greatly enhanced with
a solid insulated backer giving it more
rigidity, positive insulating factors,
and a wider exposure which makes it hard
to distinguish from actual wood siding.
ABLE is a factory certified solid core
installer.
- What is fiber cement siding?
- Fiber cement siding is a thin plank,
textured to simulate wood. The plank is
actually made of cementous material with
a reinforcement mesh for strength. Once
painted it simulates painted wood
siding.
- What is composite siding?
- Composite siding is similar to
synthetic wood planks becoming popular
for outdoor decks. Composite siding
simulates wood and will not rot and does
not need to be painted.ABLE is a factory
certified composite siding installer.
- What about painting?
- Vinyl siding, composite siding, and
solid core siding do not require
painting and are designed to never need
painting. Fiber cement siding requires
painting initially and throughout its
life.
- What does new siding cost?
- Our siding projects typically start
out at $2500, and of course go up from
there. There are a lot of factors that
determine the final price. ABLE uses
open book pricing so there is no mystery
to our price guidelines and we are happy
to share them with you.
-
How long has ABLE been in business?
- Since 1981… with over 50,000 satisfied customers.
-
How can I make my entire home
maintenance free?
- ABLE can eliminate all wood surfaces
requiring future painting with a
combination of siding and wrapping over
wood with custom shaped aluminum or
replacing wood with ,no
maintenance-required, trim products. We
can provide options and pricing. ABLE
uses open book pricing so there is no
mystery to our price guidelines and we
are happy to share them with you.
-
How can siding lower my utility bills?
- There are a number of ways to
achieve this. ABLE can blow insulation
into your walls prior to siding
installation. Additionally or
separately, a rigid insulation board can
be installed prior to siding. Solid core
siding can be used which will
automatically raise the “R-factor” or
insulating value of your home. And
finally an exterior wrap, such as Tyvek,
can be installed to raise the efficiency
of your walls. We are happy to provide
you with options and insulating values.
ABLE uses open book pricing so there is
no mystery to our price guidelines and
we are happy to share them with you.
- What is the warranty?
- When you buy premium siding products
from ABLE we stand behind it for as long
as you live in your home. This covers
both labor and material and the warranty
is not prorated. That means if it fails
– you’re covered!
- How long will new siding last?
- All ABLE siding products are
designed to last a lifetime.
- Is there maintenance?
- Typically there is no maintenance in
any of the siding products offers.
However, fiber cement will require
painting throughout the years and we can
provide approximate life cycle pricing
to help you make an intelligent
decision.
- How durable is new siding?
- Vinyl siding is very durable, but in
rare cases can crack if hit with large
hail or a baseball bat, etc. Solid core,
composite, and fiber cement are very
durable and typically do well against
Mother Nature and other abuse.
-
When is the best time to put on new
siding?
- There is no “best time” to put on
new siding.. ABLE installs siding year
round and there will be no difference in
quality, look, or longevity whether the
siding is installed in January or July.
-
If someone gets hurt on my property
during siding, can I get sued?
- Yes, that is why it is important to
hire a reputable company with proper
insurance. ABLE carries all necessary
insurance and bonding to protect you.
-
If the siding company doesn’t pay the
material bill, could I be liable?
- Yes, you have to trust that the
siding company pays the material bill
which often is not paid for until well
after you have paid for the work. A
supplier may be able to encumber your
property by placing a mechanics lien
against the title. This is a nightmare
expense best avoided. ABLE will provide
you with proof that you are safe from
that.
-
Will my plants and lawn get damaged? How
about rusty nails?
- ABLE takes pride in protecting your
plants and shrubs. We realize how
important they are to you. We protect
your yard with tarps and even run an
industrial magnet roller throughout your
yard as part of the clean-up process to
assure no hidden rusty nails.
- Does ABLE do insurance work?
- Yes, we have relationships with all
major insurance carriers and can
negotiate on your behalf and in your
best interest.
- Does ABLE recycle?
- Yes. ABLE is a pioneer in recycling.
Materials removed from your home are
ground up and used as road bed material
when and wherever possible.
-
Do I have to be home during the siding
work?
- No. All work will be done on the
outside of your home so we do not have
to come into your home.
- Do you offer financing?
- Yes. We offer a variety of financing
and can help you, confidentially and
quickly. You can go to our home page and
click on the finance box for instant
approval.
-
What is the “re-sale” value of new
siding?
- According to Realtor Magazine,
homeowners typically will see a return
of 83% on new vinyl siding. This does
not factor in how much easier it will be
to actually sell your home or cost cuts
to utility bills.
-
What is the difference between the
siding company warranty and the siding
manufacturer’s warranty?
- Everything! If the siding fails you
might get new siding material on a
prorated basis ( if you can prove that
it is the material and not the
installer’s fault) If the labor fails
you might get free labor ( if they are
still in business and can afford to
return…and if you can fully prove it was
the siding company’s fault ), either way
there is a likely chance you could get
stuck – WHEN YOU BUY ABLE PREMIUM
PRODUCTS THERE IS NO GAP IN COVERAGE –
WE STAND BEHIND YOUR SIDING 100% FOR AS
LONG AS YOU LIVE IN YOUR HOME REGARDLESS
OF FAULT!
-
What should be installed first, new
windows or new siding?
- The order does not matter, but it
certainly makes sense to do them
together for the best job. ABLE can
provide you with options including new
windows. ABLE uses open book pricing so
there is no mystery to our price
guidelines and we are happy to share
them with you.
-
Should new gutters come before new
siding?
- It depends if you intend to make
your soffit and fascia board (the board
behind the gutter and the overhang
beneath) maintenance free. If the answer
is yes, then the gutters should be done
as part of the siding project. If not,
typically it does not matter. ABLE can
provide you with options including new
gutters. ABLE uses open book pricing so
there is no mystery to our price
guidelines and we are happy to share
them with you

installs come in a vertical profile.
